Victoria Field

Victoria Field (cropped)Victoria Field is a writer and poetry therapist based in Canterbury.  She qualified with the International Federation for Biblio-Poetry Therapy in 2005 and is now a fully-approved Mentor-Supervisor offering training in the UK and beyond.  She was identified by Poetry Review as a pioneer in the field and has received awards for her work developing therapeutic writing in this country.

Victoria has worked in many different settings, including hospitals, care homes, schools and public libraries and has been a lay-adviser on the first Systematic Review of the use of Therapeutic Writing for Long-Term Conditions, headed by Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry.  She is a Member of the British Psychological Society, a professional member of the National Association for Writers in Education and has a long association with Lapidus, the organisation for writing for wellbeing.

She has co-edited three books on therapeutic writing, most recently Writing Works (JKP, 2010).  She contributes blogs, articles and chapters to many publications, most recently, she co-wrote the opening chapter to Expressive Writing: Counselling and Healthcare (Rowman & Littlefield, 2015 eds Thompson & Adams), with her long-term co-tutor Graham Hartill.  She is a visiting lecturer on the MSc in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes and is a short course tutor at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Her third full poetry collection, The Lost Boys (Waterloo, 2013) won the Holyer an Gof Award for Poetry and Drama.  She has had poetry and fiction commissioned for BBC Radio 3 and 4 and two plays produced by Hall for Cornwall.  A third play was showcased at the Marlowe Studio.  Her memoir Baggage: A Book of Leavings will be published by Francis Boutle in 2016.
